Romantic Comedy

Purrfect Justice

This is my first book by Ashley Ladd, but I can guarantee it won't be my last! I don't know how I have gone so long without picking up one of her books before, but I will never go so long again. Purrfect Justice has me hooked! The contemporary romantic comedy genre is one of my favorites, and Purrfect Justice fits this category like a glove. I laughed so hard; I had tears streaming down my face. I can't wait to read more of Ms Ladd's works, and will soon be on the prowl for my next Ladd read.

Head Over Heels

I don’t know much about cycling, so it was with some trepidation that I picked up Head Over Heels. Fortunately, neither does Magee Sinclair, the main protagonist, which put me at my ease straight away, and I settled in for the ride with a girl I could relate to.

Justin Kane is poised to secure a contract with Willoughby Bikes that will allow him to expand Cyclemania, his Mountain Bike store chain. All he needs to make his dream come true is to show Nate and Kate Willoughby that he has it all together, and this includes a stable relationship with his girlfriend Tina. Only days before their arrival, however, Tina hits him with a bombshell – despite their agreement to have fun with no strings attached, she now wants marriage and babies, and dumps Justin over the phone. Desperate not to let his dream slip away, Justin persuades his attractive but clumsy advertising consultant, Magee Sinclair, to pretend to be Tina and come mountain biking with the Willoughbys.

Harper’s Treasure

Combining action and comedy is always a recipe for success, and while I didn’t know what I was getting into when I picked up Harper’s Treasure, I knew it would be a wild ride. I was right.

There’s nothing like an adventure on the high seas when treasure is at stake, so when bounty hunter Jolene Caldwell finds an old treasure map hidden behind a painting of the ship of the infamous pirate Blackbeard, she sets sail. When her vengeful former business partner, and former lover, Hunter finds out, he decides to beat her to it – but not without using his powerful sexual magnetism to tag along with Jo.

Sex and the Serial Killer

I was really looking forward to reading a fun romance, and after reading the blurb on Jennifer Skully's book Sex and the Serial Killer I knew it was just the book to suit my mood.

After 15 years of marriage, Roberta Jones' husband leaves her for his high school sweetheart. Rather than let her failed marriage get her down in the dumps, Roberta decides that it's time for a few changes of her own. After a new cut and color, a spunk in her attitude and a change of scenery, the new Bobby Jones is ready to get her life back on track. She has landed herself a waitressing job at the Cooked Goose as well as a hot but possible serial killer for a neighbor.

I'm Undead and I Vote

This review begins with a warning to the reader... Please by all means be cautious as to your location when you pick this one up to read. Sitting alone in public, laughing until you fall out of your chair, could lead to someone questioning your sanity!

Putting her candidate in the White House was no big deal for Vampiress Tiffany Golden. After all he was only human. Dragging Vampire Master Count Victor Vyrdelek into the 21st century... now that is a job! Victor sees Tiffany as an annoying but very desirable addition to his collection of brides. Falling For a Father

Lucy Blake, a teacher at St. Augustine's, had stopped by the school museum for her daily viewing of the Reginald Diamond painting she had found at a garage sale, bought for five dollars, and donated to the school. But that painting of Reggie, the town founder, was gone. In her rush to the Principal, Roger Jordan, to reveal the bad news, she walked out of her shoes and fell on her keester on the wet St. Augustine turf.

The Bewildering Bequest

Venus and Cupid were determined to find a soul mate for Jason Stavros, whom the late Eulalie Bidwell took in after his highbrow ex-wife took him to the cleaners. Understandably, he was wary of women--especially women like Merrill Prescott the Fourth, with a wealthy family, background and name. Not only was she Eulalie's lawyer and dear friend, however, but she was also his soul mate. He just didn't know it.

Lily's Law

began reading Harlequin Flipsides for research, which is when I came across Dianne Drake's Lilly's Law. This book thoroughly entertained me.

To say traffic court Judge Lilly Malloy and newspaper owner Mike Collier have history together is like saying the Hatfields and McCoys had a minor misunderstanding. Lovers in the past, Mike's news stories twice precipitated Lilly's down fall. Hence she found herself presiding over traffic court in a small town. In the same small town, Mike owned a newspaper.

68 and Climbing

The title 68 and Climbing is based on the character Jean's assessment that the temperature at which the construction workers remove their shirts is the cause of the "temperature-dependent, hormonally driven work stoppage at Weston Designs." Jean is Annmarie's friend and employee. Thirty-four-year-old single entrepreneur Annmarie Weston was indeed having trouble with her staff who were all spending their time not working but gazing out at half a dozen "bare-chested, broad-shouldered, handsome, suntanned, young construction workers" renovating next door to her factory. It took some effort to get her girls back to work, but afterwards, she took a good look of her own and found herself entranced by the tallest, strongest, sexiest carpenter on the crew. And what was more embarrassing, he caught her looking at him. "The Building God" she'd dubbed him behind his backside. And a very acceptable backside it was too.

King's Ransom

Harley Jean Davidson had to take time from her busy charter tour-driver schedule to track down King, her father's dog, who hadn't come home the night before. She assumed it was Mrs. Trumble who was responsible, since King had torn out the back seat of Mrs. Trumble's Chevy when he'd been accidentally locked in her garage. Of course, Mrs. Trumble had followed up with a restraining order; and when Harley had shown up at her house to inquire, Mrs. Trumble--who looked like an old Richard Simmons in drag--chased her down the street whacking at her car with her broom. But when Harley got to her parents' house, her father (the former hippie) and her mother (the psychic flower-child) had a ransom note that said Bring what you know we want or the dog dies do it or you will get your dog back a little at a time.

Dirty Pictures

Marissa's picture

Sleepless nights usually find me reaching for Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia and putting myself into a coma watching Cartoon Network. Last night I decided to try something different. I still didn't get much sleep, but I read an excellent book and didn't add to my hips!

Dirty Pictures from Elisa Adams is just the latest in a long line of erotic fiction. She has already made a niche for herself in paranormal erotic romance, and has finally dipped her toes into more mainstream erotica. She's made a splash!

1-800-SEX4YOU

He said, she said. This is about the second book I've read this month that is set up in a he said/she said format, written by two different authors each playing a role. I am assuming by gender that the SHE author is Michele and the HE author is Chris, but in this case, who knows. In 1-800-SEX4YOU, SHE is Arissa Montague, recently dumped employee of a public relations firm. HE is Derek Mortenson, the workaholic boss of said aforementioned public relations firm who happened to witness Arissa's dumping.
