Book Two of The Summoning Series
A small object found on an archaeological dig, seemingly worthless and unconnected to the dig itself, will unleash an evil into the world. Sounds intriguing, right? Now throw in a bit of Arthurian legend and some paranormal phenomenon and you've got the recipe for a dark and powerful paranormal treat.
For archaeologist Sofie Adams things were not quite as they should be. She is on a dig in Tintagel, the English countryside location fabled to be the land of legendary King Arthur himself. No problems there – she loves the work, the possibility of finding something wonderful, some sort of physical connection to the past. The problem is she is here for more than just the dig itself. She is here for a wedding. Plans are already in motion for her to marry her fiancé Archie in little more than a week and she has serious reservations about going through with it. Before the ‘we need to talk’ conversation can take place, events occur that change everything.
A mysterious man arrives to discuss a forensic case with Sofie and a whistle found at the dig by Sofie gets blown, producing startling results. Now Sofie finds herself returning home with the mysterious Evan Howell, and deeply involved in a serial murder investigation. One in which she may even be a potential victim. The danger is great and more sinister than either Evan or Sophie can fathom. Archie is no more and the being that has taken control of him will stop at nothing to obtain the prize he seeks.
This story is the second in a fascinating new series entitled The Summoning. These tales are based on the premise that centuries ago a Wiccan spell was cast to draw great power to a witch and her ancestors from both dark and light magic. However along with the power comes the irresistible lure for evil.
Each book is a tale unto itself, allowing them to be read independently. I had already read the first in this series and had high hopes for this one from the start. It did not disappoint! Chemistry of Evil has all of the elements I look for in a paranormal suspense novel plus a lot more! From page one there is a sense of mystery and danger, which grows throughout the story sweeping you along for the ride. I look forward to more great tales from both the series and this author. Well done!
