Review:

What would you do if some threat suddenly put all your loved ones at risk? Would you run or fight back? Okay, now what if the threat was from an unknown source and had already brought violence and death to your world?

Rebecca Alexander, up and coming costume designer, has become small town diner waitress Ellie Baker. Why? Because a masked stranger is stalking Rebecca and has already killed someone she was close to. Upending her life and leaving all she cares for behind in a moments notice is the price she willingly pays to prevent death striking on her doorstep again. Then Jace Monroe enters her place of work, and her life, and begins to chip away at the wall she has built. He recognizes her behavior as someone with something to hide, but sees beyond the fear and closed off side to the real woman beneath. Suddenly Rebecca's life seems lonely and hollow and she longs for a future with Jace. A future that may never be possible as the masked man draws nearer and the need to run overwhelms her once again.

This tale has a lot of good things going for it. You have a heroine who is sympathetic and believable, as well as a hero who is strong and solid and perfect for the 'damsel in distress' aspect of this story. There are some great secondary characters in this tale as well. A sexy Frenchman who begs for his own story to be told and a four-legged ball of energy that steals almost every scene he enters. Watching the relationship develop between Rebecca and Jace is very enjoyable as the instant attraction thing is fought on both their parts and trust is given time to develop. The intensity of the love scenes is near to perfect with the added 'this may be the last time together feeling' making everything more meaningful. This story does a more than decent job of keeping you interested in the characters and on the edge of your seat with suspense from start to finish. What more can you ask for than that?
