For centuries she had ruled the vampire clan in Paris waiting for her true soul mate. Half human and half vampire, Kira ruled the underworld vampires in Paris keeping charge of her seedlings. Her ex-lover once told her that she was destined for more, that one day the man of her dreams would come to be prepared. She never thought that her destiny would come in a blond, blue-eyed Viking such as Johan. Everything in him suggested to her that he would be a great king. Johan was a ruler that all her charges would look up to. The one thing her ex-lover and Master did not prepare her for were the intense feelings and emotions she felt from Johan. Kira, the all-powerful female, had never been brought to her knees by a man before, but one look at Johan made her drop down and beg for his kisses.

The seer from Johan's clan told him that on a quest he would find what he had been searching for: his soul mate. That quest led him to the underground of Paris where he met the greatest goddess in the vampire world: Kira. He knew that it was only with her in his life that he would be able to forge a powerful united clan, but first he had to make Kira his for all eternity. With one look he knew she would be his. However, Johan wanted more than that; he wanted her soul and heart, not just her body. They were two of the same, out to satisfy their thirst but searching for something more besides sucking the blood of vampires. Kira had never met a man such as Johan but was ready to try anything new, including having him in her heart as well as her body.

The latest by Marianne LaCroix leans more toward a sexual theme than to the Paranormal. Kira, a woman who has been a great ruler to the vampires in Paris, starts having human feelings for Johan. As a vampire she knows what her body wants, but deep down she wants Johan with a woman's desire. Johan is the typical male vampire looking for his soul mate. Together these two forge a powerful clan. Most of the story has a sexual tone, and therefore less was said about Kira and Johan's personal stories. Their affair was hot, though, as is the case with all Ms. LaCroix's books. This is a great Paranormal to read if you like stories that are heavy on the vampires and sex.
