I've always loved a good ghost story. Something about the possibility of there being something after our lives here, something beyond the coffin and a hole in the ground, has always appealed to me. Even if all I can do is wander around and people watch, it's something to look forward to instead of an eternity of darkness.
With his first novel, David Ellis became a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist. After his huge debut success, he hid behind the name of his wife as he penned bodice-ripping romances. Now facing a deadline after an emotional breakdown that has led him to be estranged from his soon to be ex-wife, he moves to New England looking for some peace and solace where he can pen the next Great American Novel. He takes a six month lease on a house that once belonged to world renowned Prima Ballerina, Jenna Whitcomb.
His first night in the house, he swears he hears music and Jenna comes to visit him in his sleep. Is she real, is she haunting the very house where she died thirty years ago, or is she simply a figment of David's over-active imagination? Has he finally gone off the mental deep end, or does the beautiful spirit of a very dead woman haunt his house?
Ms. Jenson has written a story that crawls under your skin and sinks into your bones so you can only keep going until you know how it all ends. The need that most feel to belong somewhere, to someone, is a driving sense in this story. And even though Jenna died many years ago, she is still looking for someone to want her for herself and someone she can call her own.
