I'd never read anything by Ms. Faulkner, but when Full Ride was out, I grabbed for it. Something told me I'd like this book. I'd never before read anything that dealt with D/s (Domination/submission) or BDSM, but the benefit of being a bookworm is that you can always try something new. So I jumped in with both feet and found that I loved this book.
Prin needed just one more time to get this whole thing out of her system. For two years, a man had been coming in her dreams and dominating her in such a way that she woke up screaming for release. When a friend of hers suggested just one night with a Dominant friend of his, she insisted that it be no strings attached and that they know nothing of each other. No names, nothing about their lives, nothing beyond one night together to satisfy mutual need.
Besides, this whole submission thing was just something on the side for her: part of the games she and her late husband played. He liked pretending he was her Dom, and she loved having him dominate her. But being a sub isn't a big part of her life now; it's just something she needs to work out of her system so she can move on.
Contracts are signed--airtight paperwork that signs Prin over to the mystery Dom until six the next morning. Everything is planned to his specifications, down to what she is wearing when she steps into the hotel room and stops in her tracks. The man from her dreams is leaning casually against the bar, staring at her with cool blue eyes. Her fantasy man crashes head long into reality and does everything to her that the dreams promised.
Her Dom is just as shocked at seeing the woman from his "Dream Walk" step through the door of the hotel room. She'd saved him when his life was going to hell, when he'd taken to Dream Walking, as his grandfather had taught him, to keep his sanity. For two years, he'd been stepping into her dreams, and he'd given up hope of finding her during his waking moment. His grandfather had always said that if you found your soul mate during a Dream Walk, you'd be denied them during the Waking Times until your next life.
Prin is exactly what he'd been wanting in a sub; she responds to his every touch and trusts him totally. But the damn contract keeps him from finding out anything about her, from claiming her as his. If only there was some way around it . . .
Ms. Faulkner appears to have done her work thoroughly: from the way Prin submits to her mystery Dom to the final claiming that binds them together in such a way that nothing can break it. Be warned however, this book is not for the faint of heart. After I read this book, I did a little research into the D/s world. While the Dom appears to be humiliating his sub, it is nothing the sub doesn't want to happen. Prin is the same way. Between spankings and punishments, nothing happens that she doesn't like.
This book was definitely worth the read, and I will gladly read more of Ms. Faulkner's work in the future. Make sure your heart is in good health before cracking this book open, and enjoy!
