Hello to all you Novelspotters. My name is Dianne G. Sagan. I am an author, inspirational speaker, and ghostwriter. I’ve been full time writing for about four years and loving it, even with the challenges of balancing all the demands of writing, speaking, and the business end.
I’ve always been a story teller from the time I was a child. I loved reading and got the bug for writing from an awesome high school English teacher who taught us the nuts and bolts of writing a paper. I don’t think I really thought about being a professional writer until later, but I learned to love the process. I was a history major in college and was one of those students who loved essay question tests. I realize I’m in a tiny minority of people who think that is the way to go.
When I became a mother of three small children, we used to go to the library all the time and I read to them daily. Then, I started writing stories for them. Some stories were about them. I became a single mom, working and raising the kids alone, so decided to put off any aspirations of writing books until later. If I had it to do over again, I would make some time to write every day.
I did start one project during that time. It was a work of fiction that combined my own experiences and those of three other women who spent some time in a battered women’s shelter. After a few years plugging along with the manuscript, I put it away in the closet and let it sit. Keeping up with growing children and all their activities and a demanding job was all I had time for.
Fast forward, I’m happily married to a column/editorial writer and freelance editor now. We have a blended family of six grown children, four grandchildren, and a dog. When we are not writing or spending time with family, we have a business consulting business together and hold seminars dealing with organizational culture issues, productivity, and other subjects.
I speak to women’s groups, at retreats, and writer’s groups as well. My topics include overcoming your past and living a more joyful life. In April 29, 30 and May 1st, I’ll be presenting at the OWIF conference in Norman, Oklahoma on ghostwriting. I’ll be a presenter at the Frontiers in Writing conference in Amarillo, Texas, June 25 & 26, 2010 doing a workshop on Developing Characters with Style.
It is an interesting balancing act keeping all of this going at the same time. I spent the past four years as a ghostwriter. I’ve written 8 books and have two others that are not completed as a ghostwriter. One made the bestsellers list on Amazon Canada in number two slot, which was very exciting for the author and me.
2009 was a really exciting year. I started the year with the release of my first novella, Rebekah Redeemed, a historical/Christian fiction piece. ISBN# 978-0-937660-52-2
$11.95
The daughter of a shepherd who saw the Christ child that first night, Rebekah is thrown into a life of servitude. Traded from relative to relative, she suffers through hard labor, neglect, and abuse. What will become of her? No one cares until a kinsman redeemer reveals himself.
Can Rebekah forgive the past?

Then, in December my book Shelter from the Storm was released just before Christmas. ISBN# 978-1-934335-35-2
Price: $14.95
In Shelter from the Storm, award winning author Dianne G. Sagan tells a story that is all too real and all too prevalent in our society, but Sagan will have you on the edge of your seat, in tears, as you open your heart to Brittany and her children.
"Poignant and positively captivating, Sagan's latest, Shelter From the Storm, will have you reading far into the night. A must read!"
