You know how drug dealers often give out free samples of their wares, then charge you once you’re hooked? Well, that’s one way to look at my READ FREE Project stories. I’m so devious...I let you try out my fiction in the hope that you’ll want more. Is that so wrong? I don’t think so, especially considering you could busy yourself for quite awhile reading the seven stories, novellas, and entire novel that I offer for free. It’s better than a Las Vegas buffet, especially at what they charge in Sin City nowadays.

A lot of you are already aware of READ FREE, and a lot know all about my work, but for those who don’t, here’s a little guide to help you select your first taste of crack, er, Diana Laurence romance fiction. I’ll describe you as a reader, then the free book I recommend, then a book you might consider as your first purchase. Just a little service I offer because I care! :-)

SWEET ROMANTIC

You: Like some sensuality, but most of all like your romance sweet. You enjoy love stories in a magical context: knights and maidens, fairies, wizards, all that supernatural stuff.

Try for free: “Artemis in Love.” It’s the story of the goddess Artemis and how she succumbs for the first time to love, in response to the most unlikely of young men.

Consider getting: Souls’ Embrace. In this novel, which takes place in a fantasy setting with a medieval feel, two lovers with a psychic connection must battle an evil magician with his sights set on the heroine. (Some sensual content, very tasteful.)

GRAPHIC BUT IMAGINATIVE

You: Enjoy spicy romance, but like it in creative contexts. A colorful setting, a new twist, clever dialogue--more than just sex, and above all, good characters.

Try for free: “Tartan.” This spicy, short historical romance (medieval Scotland) tells the tale of an unusual wager that ends in love for a winsome pair.

Consider getting: Soulful Sex: Erotic Tales of Fantasy and Romance Volumes I and II. Includes twelve stories in a variety of genres that explore sensual themes tastefully and imaginatively. Includes fan favorite and award winner “Je t’aime Etienne” and the Vernal Night Trilogy.

VAMPIROPHILE

You: Are a sucker for vampires.

Try for free: “Playacting.” No real vamps in this short story, but the hero’s portrayal of Dracula will definitely trip your trigger. This one is pretty racy.

Consider getting: Bloodchained. This novel (along with its sequel and the spinoff comic book) is a new twist on the vampire myth and also my bestselling work of fiction. Meanwhile, you could also consider the aforementioned Soulful Sex Volumes I and II, which contains the contemporary vampire novella “Pints.” And Soulful Sex Volume III includes my personal favorite of my vampire tales, the Regency novella “Verity of the Vampyre.” Lastly, for an intriguing portrayal of psychic vampirism, there’s my contemporary novel Looking on Darkness.

And of course there’s the best selling of all my books, How to Catch and Keep a Vampire. It’s non-fiction...perhaps!

LOVER OF THE FANTASTICAL

You: Enjoy paranormal, fantasy and/or science fiction stories just as much as romance.

Try for free: “Gift of Flesh.” This sensual novella is the story of a soldier who falls for the concubine he must escort to her new owner in a neighboring kingdom. The two must thwart death to be together. This is another hugely popular work of mine and a personal favorite.

Consider getting: Soulful Sex: The Paranormal, Fantasy and Science Fiction Collections. This book includes nine tales in these imaginative genres. Your adventures in this anthology will include meeting a benevolent alien abductor, cavorting with a pirate’s ghost, and visiting the Fantasy Room.

JUST A LITTLE BIT NASTY

You: Mostly nice, but intrigued by “the road less travelled.”

Try for free: “The Scarlet Shackle.” Possibly my most popular novella to date, this is a mild BDSM story that tastefully explores the urge to be dominated. Readers who don’t normally choose BDSM but acknowledge the eroticism of submission will enjoy this sensual tale.

Consider getting: Soulful Sex: The Darker Side. I didn’t wholly abandon my happy outlook on romance in this collection, but happy endings aren’t guaranteed every time, and there are some pretty naughty goings-on. This is probably my favorite of all my books, by the way. Not that I’m “a little bit nasty,” really. LOL (By the way, another vampire story in this book!)

All the READ FREE books are readable right online or may be downloaded as pdf or lit ebooks for enjoying on your ereader. The other two offerings are my holiday story “Secret Santas” (which some of my fans like to reread every year) and my Star Wars fan fiction novel The Golden Padawan.
