Silhouette Bombshell
Cassandra Newton of Carla Cassidy's GET BLONDIE kicked butt right from the beginning. Not a fan of shrinking violet heroines, I eagerly awaited Silhouette's new line called Bombshell. And the first one I read was not a disappointment.
Cassandra was a Kansas City cop. On a normal day busting thugs, she returned to her desk to find a white rose and a cell phone. Someone wanted her back in the secret agency for which she once worked. Not eager to give up her life in the suburbs, she tossed the items.
But the agency wasn't finished with her. So they sent her former lover Kane McNabb to entice her back into the fold. A man whose daughter died from an overdose of drugs was attempting to sell tainted cocaine so that all the users and dealers would die. This man had an affinity for leggy blondes which is what Cassandra was. He also may have known the whereabouts of her mother whom she hadn't seen since she was an adolescent.
Cassandra agreed to the assignment, then found out she had to work with Kane. She left him in a hospital bed years ago because she felt that if they hadn't been lovers he wouldn't have taken a bullet for her. Kane came back to find out why she left.
Cassandra fought her way out of several sticky situations, using brawn and brains. She was a fully developed character. I highly recommend GET BLONDIE.
