From here to there, from there to here

My path to publication was long and had a lot of curves. I took some side roads, some detours, some deadends. Would have been faster had I stayed on the main highway but I think the curves have given me a lot of perspective.

I still march down the curvy rather than the straight at times.

I’ve gone from one book to three to over a dozen. I’ve worked my tail off to get to where I am. And still I want more.

People ask where do you get your ideas? Do you worry you’ll run out? And it’s something I panicked about when I was writing Blood Lines 2: Conduit. What if this was all the good ideas for stories that I would have? What if I couldn’t come up with any more?

I’ve found I’m inspired most of the time and hope that continues.

A desire to write a Christmas story one year had me thinking, “Hmmm. Suppose a man brought home a Christmas tree with more than sap in it. What if a woman was cursed into it? On, and she hates men!? The Six Curses of Christmas was born and it spawned two stand alone sequels, The Sixth Curse of Spring and the Sixth Cursed Halloween.

Notice the titles are all a bit different in the Curses series? I sat down to write a similar book to the Christmas one when I wrote The Sixth Curse of Spring. And found I couldn’t do it. The story didn’t want to be told over, even in an expanded way. It wanted to be different. All three stories are just a little bit different like their titles.

Another day, I was thinking about stones. And how would it be if there was this mine that had these special stones? But what did they do? Suppose they picked your mate? And the mine was in this futuristic time when ménages were common and prized. Settler’s Mine was born that day. It’s been a series that has taken me down roads I never anticipated.

I’m always looking for my next challenging stories. I have more stories in my head than I will probably ever write, which has eased my worry that I’ll run out.

I’m always looking to expand my readership. To stretch my wings and soar just a little bit higher than I did before.

That’s my story behind the scenes or a look inside my head. Hopefully, my story will be neverending.
