After whining to my husband for months about wanting to make Amber Quill’s best seller list, and then doing it in such grand style, I have no idea if I’ll ever manage it again, but a girl can always hope.
In the meantime, I have four more stories scheduled for the start of 2009. Due out in January is SOME PLACE ONLY WE KNOW, a contemporary m/m where two men meet under unusually sad circumstances, and seek comfort in one another’s company. The relationship develops quickly and they become more than friends when they discover they’re able to admit their true sexuality for the very first time.
A TASTE OF HONEY is an historical m/m/f scheduled for release in early February. It’s another spin off from TIME SHIFT and features the Marquis de Vernnay who has had enough of female prostitutes whining about what they consider to be his ill-treatment of them, and decides to experiment with young men instead. A plan that totally backfires on the Marquis when he goes to a men only club and falls in love with Honey, a former slave from the West Indies turned servant boy. The Marquis has royal blood in his veins, and Honey is so far his social inferior, he doesn’t even register on the scale. But the Marquis is obsessed with the young man. He doesn’t care what it takes, what social barriers he has to cross, he wants Honey, and he wants him exclusively.
in late February, these books will be followed by PARIS HEAT, another m/m/f contemporary ménage about a woman who meets an attractive man on a plane and almost joins the mile high club. And then, in early March, I’ll have a contemporary m/m in the I REMEMBER YOU Pax--the story of two lovers who meet ten years after they’d planned to leave town together, except one didn’t show up and the other left without him. I have several titles in mind for this book, but can’t make up my mind which I like the best.
What will come during the rest of 2009, I have no idea at the moment. Probably more m/m and m/m/f, and I have a shapeshifter series in mind, if I ever get around to it. I have the shifter’s name, his alter ego, and the reason he’s wandering around Chicago on a cold winter’s night, looking for a warm place to sleep. I’ve even written the first few paragraphs, and one of these days when the mood strikes, I’ll perhaps write more.
I also have a quartet of short stories set in Las Vegas that started out all m/f, but I’ve since realized can all be written as m/m. And I have another story floating around in the back of my mind based on the Chris de Burgh song, Lady In Red.
However, the one story that’s just burning to be written, once I’ve finished my current set of deadlines, is a spin off from OH, GEORGE, when the beautiful office manager, Ramona, decides to accept a date with one of the company’s clients--Ari Tarasios. Ramona’s sister works for Ari’s family business, so Ramona knows Ari’s a a real swinger. But when Ramona lets it be known she’s only up for a little one-on-one fun, Ari’s disappointed. He wants to introduce her to his good friend and housemate and have a night of three-way playtime. Ramona demurs, but Ari is very persuasive. How can she possibly say no to something she’s never tried?
And then there’s another spin off I have brewing, this time from A MOMENT OF MADNESS. Jenny and her boyfriend, ex-British Special Services soldier turned retrieval expert, Andy Mulligan, will be off in search of even more valuable lost property.
Like most writers, I have dozens of ideas that will never develop into plots, but it’s the constant what if and the hey what if I did this, that or the other that keeps the wheels turning, and the creative juices flowing.
If, to this point, you haven’t read any of my stories, I hope you’ll visit http://www.amberquill.com/AmberHeat/bio_France.html and give one a try.
Well I guess that’s it for me, my week is over. So, thanks to Novelspot for having me, and to those readers who’ve read about how I made it from there to here, and especially to Allie for all her techno magic in making my blogs appear. Happy reading everyone. And if you’re planning on attending the Romantic Times Convention in Orlando next April, perhaps I’ll see you there.
