I’ll admit that my muse is silent sometimes—but I write anyway. I’ve heard authors say that “It’s easier to fix a bad page than a blank one.” I agree with this statement. So, even when the muse isn’t whispering so sweetly in my ear, I write.
Sure, there are some days when I do feel so inspired that I often wonder if I’m getting help from a kindly muse. Those blessed days when I’m writing and I lose track of time because I’m so into the story and I know exactly what the characters should do next and how they are feeling and everything just feels…right.
Then there are the other days…the days when I sit with my hands paused over the keyboard and I think and re-think scenes. But, when I’m done with my evaluation, I still write—and I tell the muse to shove it on those days.
What’s your take on the mysterious muse?
