I'm a Virgin!

[Back]
I’ve been aware of Romantic Times magazine for years. I occasionally bought an issue or borrowed them from friends. As a newly published author I decided it was about time I subscribed myself. Over the years I’d also heard about the annual writer’s conference sponsored by RT. My older sister who is also published attended several of the conferences and shared her experiences with me.

This year will be a first for us. We’ll be there together at the convention in Pittsburgh. She of course is a veteran, but I’m going as a virgin. Yep, you read that right—a virgin. According to the RT organizers anyone who has never attended an RT convention is assigned that label. There’s even a special Virgin party for all us newbies.

That is of course only one of the many extravagant evening entertainments that are held at the convention. I’d seen my sister’s photographs so I wasn’t completely unprepared. Dress-ups was my favorite past time as a child. I’m also a Civil War re-enactor, so I’m well versed in corsets and cage crinolines. Still, I can’t believe how much time, energy and yes, I must confess, money has gone into preparing for all the various parties that are being held. I have a lovely 30s gown, complete with a feather boa, a sexy, Gothic Vampire outfit, a sparkly sea nymph look for the Under the Sea party and some comfortable, but funky silver bejeweled shoes for the Dorchester fling. All this in addition to the special attire I need for the book signings, brunches, lunches and workshops I’ll be attending. Packing is definitely going to be a challenge.

But challenges seem to be what my life is all about recently. From learning new computer skills to blogging to my first book signing, something new seems to crop up everyday. One thing I can say about this fascinating writing journey that I embarked on so many years ago—it’s never boring.

I hope you enjoyed reading my ramblings this past week. A final thank you to Novelspot, not only for the opportunity to be one of the Behind the Scenes authors, but also for helping me to overcome one of my technology phobias. Comments from authors and readers are always welcome, so please feel free to contact me. Oh and that online chat I mentioned at the beginning of the week—I went, I chatted, I survived.

Great blog!

I finally am able to make comments--on your final post! This time anyway--hope you'll be posting again here soon, Kathy.
Great job, I enjoyed reading every one.
See you soon!

A Virgin?????

I don't think so, not the way you write!
I loved your book & am glad to hear that you have another coming out this month. Bravo on a great beginning to your new career. Have a great time at the RT Conference! Take a kazoo, sing a few songs & always wear your party clothes. A toast to you! In real life I'm K, but I got my username when I was fooling with the computer. You know how those spellings just can't be changed.

I'm having trouble with posting this. It has closed out on my twice. I hope this works.
