American history has always held great interest for me. I welcome every opportunity to learn more about my country’s past and the people who lived during those days gone by. A passion for studying the Civil War found me watching the movie GETTYSBURG as it aired on television one weekend. Though I missed some of the epic, I tuned in as a scene played out starring Sam Elliott as Brig. General John Buford. Sam has always embodied a perfect hero, whether playing a military figure or a cowboy. As the movie continued I recalled the Arizona travel brochures I’d received in the mail the day before. Sam’s gentlemanly manner and cool delivery of his lines caught the tail of my recollection, and the rest is story-writing history. When the next commercial aired, I turned off the television, gathered my corkboard and a stack of paper, and sat down for a plotting session that resulted in TAMING THE TEMPTRESS, my second published historical erotica romance. For almost two weeks, I roughed out scenes that would shape the Tombstone stage upon which my central characters, Lorelei Pettigrew and James Melton, would play. Lorelei is a woman who lost her lover to silver fever. Left behind in the boomtown, she remains a spunky soul who fends pretty well for herself despite the fighting and torment surrounding her. But despite her outward appearance of confidence, she displays a tender side and reveals her emotional vulnerability when around a handsome newcomer who’s set her hardened heart beating. James Melton is a newspaperman from New York who understands her plight and who can't resist returning her affection.
