Book 2 of the Mercy Thompson series
Going back to the world of Patricia Briggs and the Tri-Cities in Washington State, Blood Bound gives us another taste of life more than ordinary. Sometimes, it's downright scary.
Mercedes 'Mercy' Thompson, coyote walker and VW mechanic, tries to stay out of trouble. Really, she does.
But when you work on the cars of vampires and your next door neighbor is the alpha of the local werewolf pack, Adam Hauptman, your housemate is also male werewolf Sam McCormick, doctor and strong dominate… and both men would like nothing more than to be able to call you theirs, staying out of trouble is a lot like trying to stay dry while swimming.
Oh, and you owe a favor to the vampire mistress. Confusing, anyone?
Being a smart woman, Mercy chose to help out the vampires first, as it was the lesser of all the other evils, especially the whole romance thing. I can't say I blame her there, either. I’d have a hard time trying to choose between Adam and Sam myself, and I'm not even there.
Stephen, no last name, calls in the favor owed from Mercy. There is a new vampire in town and he's here without the Mistress's permission. Stephen has to give the new blood drinker a reason to leave, and he wants Mercy along as both a witness and in case he has to 'persuade' the newcomer by force. Extra muscle never hurt.
But doing a favor can often turn around and bite you in the end. And, sometimes, it can get you killed.
The vampire Stephen took her to see was no ordinary creature. And the demon riding him wasn't anything to sneeze at either.
A demon rider running loose in the Tri-Cities is bad news for everyone, but even more so for the werewolves who just came out of the woods. The human population is blaming the deaths on the strangling heat wave, but, unless Mercy can stop things from going any further, the humans are going to turn their eyes to the werewolves and more innocent people will die.
Blood Bound was a great ride, and the ending will leave you wanting more.
