Review:

Who hasn’t muttered to herself that the gods must be against her? Or at the very least, thought that you were being targeted by the gods. What if the gods weren’t against you, but rather for you? Cupid, in particular? Things would be great, mostly, unless you had an impetuous nymph handling the true love arrows. Then it would be difficult to predict what might happen. Daisy Dexter Dobbs addresses this unusual problem with her newest book, Finding Cupid.

Lula is late again, on a day she can’t afford to be late, her true love final. Cupid is taking the entire class to Earth to examine their ability to pick the right people to fall in love. Everything she has been working for is slipping away from her if she can’t make it to Earth and find Cupid. The only problem is she can’t get to Earth on her own and Cinnamus, her instructor, isn’t allowed to take her. It almost seems everything she touches turns out wrong despite her good intentions. Cinnamus takes pity on Lula and drives his heavenly chariot to Earth to drop off the wayward student. On the way, Lula loses her textbook and Earth clothing. She decides not to mention it. Cinnamus already thinks she’s a screw-up.

Dakin Droner is a manly man more used to the cement and steel world of construction than a flower shop. The muscular male finds himself surrounded by blossoms in his brother’s flower shop named Cupid’s Headquarters. The smell of the flowers is making him sick along with the pink smock that Zeb, his brother, makes him wear. All he needs is for Zeb to get back before he has to arrange something floral, then she walks in. A beautiful, curvaceous blonde barely covered in some filmy transparent toga garment. Maybe Zeb can take his time.

Finding Cupid isn’t easy for Lula. She fends off drunken, smelly men who want to have sex with her. Women simply give her cold stares and walk the other way. Only one helpful individual points her to Cupid’s Headquarters. There he stands, Cupid, in disguise, of course. Cupid enjoys using disguises while on Earth. Lula finds herself sexually attracted to Cupid. This is wrong and it never happened before. Cupid is married to a goddess, no less. A goddess who doesn’t tolerate nymphs poaching on her property. Besides, Lula likes Cupid’s wife, Psyche. The really odd thing is that Cupid acts like he doesn’t know her—it must be part of the test.

Dakin thinks the luscious female is at first a hooker, but she is too beautiful, clean, and well, innocent. The woman’s odd answers about gods and goddesses and Mount Olympus make him think she is touched, what a waste. With incoming customers, he does the only thing he can, which isn’t having mind-blowing sex with her on the design table, but rather bundle her up in a smock. When Zeb arrives, he’ll know what to do. For now, he will keep the blonde beauty safe from the outside world. The real question is who is going to protect Lula from his out of control libido?

Dakin and Lula play well off each other. Dakin is believable as the alpha male unwilling to accept that fairies and nymphs do exist. Lula is excellent as the earnest student trying to fight off her attraction to the scrumptious man she believes is Cupid. Zeb, the outspoken gay florist, is a fun, insightful secondary character.

Finding Cupid is an erotic novel, make no mistake about that, but is very, very different from your usual fare. Daisy Dexter Dobbs makes Lula a fun, whimsical, lovable nymph. Dakin is a delicious piece of eye candy complete with all of the stubborn traits that make men, well, men. The interaction between the two is believable, fun, and erotic. Finding Cupid is longer than your usual erotica because Dexter has more to say and she does it so well. Find out for yourself. The novel comes with an excellent cover by Syneca. Don’t miss it.
