There are some authors who make you want to buy anything and everything they write. Judy Mays is one of those writers. A true favorite of mine, I never miss any of her work, so I grabbed Rednecks ‘n’ Rock Candy as soon as I could.

Mandi O’Brien doesn’t understand what her best friend Amber loves about this backward town. She was supposed to meet her friend Amber at the country house Amber had inherited. Only Amber has gone off to New York to meet with her new literary agent and her publisher leaving Mandi stranded in the middle of nowhere.

So now that Mandi is here, wherever here is, what is a gourmet chef supposed to do stuck out here in the middle of the country where the TV only has four channels? She can’t even watch Emeril! She is not a happy camper!

Local sheriff Brad Keister isn’t very happy either. Brad’s life has been completely turned upside down. In a drug bust gone wrong, he was fatally shot and his cousin Rusty did the only thing he could do save Brad; he changed Brad into a vampire.

Becoming a vampire meant big changes in Brad’s life, no more coaching little league, no more corn on the cob, no more spending a hot summer afternoons fishing at the creek. Hell, he was even going to have to give up his job as sheriff since he couldn’t go out in the hot sun. And now, he was stuck taking care of Amber’s goofy, cross-eyed cat while she was away.

Then, Brad meets Mandi and there is something about her that stirs Brad’s desire. For the first time in six weeks, he feels a physical response to a woman’s presence, and he, for one, is going to get to know Mandi O’Brien a lot more intimately.

But how do you tell someone you love that you’re a vampire, that their best friend is a vampire? Is he even going to get the chance?

This is such a typical Judy Mays book: sexy, funny and well written. b>Rednecks ‘n Rock Candy is full of red hot sex! This book is going on my keeper shelf.
