I love the title of this book, Stud Finders Incorporated, and who can resist the sexy cover? This contemporary romance is a fun yet poignant introduction into the lives of two people who have been scarred from past relationships.
Madison Paxton needs to get laid, according to her mother. Madison agrees, now that she’s rid of her cheating husband. Madison’s mother, Rose, is delightfully blunt and carefree, nothing like her up-tight daughter. She decides her daughter needs to loosen up and have some fun in life so she hires Madison a man, a ‘stud’ from a place called Stud Finders Incorporated. Madison is shocked and mortified when Jake Hunter, the ‘stud’, shows up on her doorstep.
Jake is great-looking and sexy. Madison is immediately attracted to him. Jake feels as though he’s stepped into the Twilight Zone as he tries to figure out what the crazy, but gorgeous woman is talking about. Eventually, she bluntly tells him her mother hired him to teach her about sex. After all he’s from Stud Finders Incorporated, isn’t he? Jake is not a ‘stud’ but is helping his dad out as a stud finder—as in home structural repair—while on vacation.
Truthfully, he describes himself as a boring family lawyer. Jake hasn’t dated in a while, not since his last girlfriend broke up with him complaining he was boring in bed. Jake also hasn’t had sex in a long time and he soon realizes Madison brings out the ‘male’ in him. He asks her out on a date and Madison accepts.
This was a good read, even though there are a few inconsistencies. For example, before Madison and Jake’s first date he shops at a local bookstore for a self-help book to improve his sexual technique. In my opinion, this doesn’t ring true for this viral, handsome man who drives a macho red sports car just because his ex-girlfriend found him ‘boring in bed’. In chapter three, Jake mentions how Madison had hired him to learn about sex when in fact, her mother had done the hiring. Also, the pacing in the book reads a bit slower than I like. I found myself eagerly waiting for the next event to happen.
Overall, Ms. Fleming delivers what all romance readers are seeking in a romance novel. Stud Finders Incorporated delivers a satisfying ending.
