Bren
Bren is currently a stay-at-home mom to 2-year-old Jamie. She suffers from a rare heart disease called postpartum cardiomyopathy, but she tries not to let it affect her life more than necessary. Before her disability forced her to stop working, Bren was a web developer and technical editor for an academic medical journal of nutrition. Bren holds a BA degree in English Writing Arts from the State University of NY College at Oswego, and a partial Masters in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island. When she isn't chasing her son around the house, she spends her time reading anything she can get her hands on, although she does get very sick of reading the same toddler books over and over. She is addicted to online book swap sites and the local library. She enjoys listening to Celtic and New Age music, shopping for more new clothes that she doesn't really need, participating in online book discussion groups, and journaling. She is the moderator of her local Freecycle group, leads a local book discussion group, and volunteers at her local library. She gets her daily caffeine fix from spiced chai lattes, and eats chocolate in any form she can get it. She dreams of owning her own bookstore someday. Most of her current writing focuses on trying to make her disease more widely known so that more doctors will be familiar with it and fewer women will have to go through the misery she did before she was finally properly diagnosed.
