In Arrested, Alyssa writes a "wojep," that is, a woman in jeopardy story. The heroine is Kirsten Montgomery, and the crime for which she is being arrested is that of leaving her boyfriend. However, according to the arresting officer Reid Walker, her crime is car theft, a difference of opinion which erects an understandable obstacle between the arrester and the arrestee.

Is Kirsten a gold-digging crook--or is just a country girl trying to get back to her roots? Is Reid the tough-guy hard-edged Texas lawman, or is he the lonely man who once gave the world to woman who tossed his heartfelt gifts back into his face and dumped him?

In Arrested, Alyssa presents two needy sympathetic characters with an insurmountable obstacle between them, irresistible passion uniting them, and an unavoidable villain in pursuit. Toss in the heroine's dog Snowball and paint the whole thing on a big ol' Texas landscape, and the combination works. Alyssa's writing is crisp with just the right degree of tension, fast and a fast-paced read, which sucks you immediately into the story, and keeps you entranced straight through to the end. Fun stuff.
