Speaking of magic – sometimes magic threads its way throughout a time-travel story, and sometimes all it takes is one touch of magic reality that transplants someone to the new time and place that presents the setting and challenges. In Christina's Tapestry, there is a single device, a magic tapestry "created by a sorceress long since passed on," the purpose of which is "to draw back mates for the men of the land of Javara since women here are in such short supply". Marc and Jarek of the house of Garen are certainly of interest — I bet you will pick up on which one Christina prefers the instant they're introduced.
 
So, blonde, pudgy, secretarial Christina, who in her world will not be missed, lucks onto the two thousand dollar tapestry of two hunky warriors in a medieval setting and on a whim (or compulsion) buys it with her every last penny. The tapestry proves to be the catalyst, the portal if you will, to Javara, where a peculiar culture has developed since three males are born for every one female. Brothers of a family compete for the hand of a woman; and after she chooses a husband. On top of that, one night a week she is available not only to her chosen husband and also the unchosen brother. So Christina's crisis is this: she must decide which brother she chooses — or indeed if she will stay at all. Furthermore, there's a foe – but I hate to give the plot away.
 
So what else is within the covers? Competition. Not your ordinary competition, either, but a sexual competition between brothers, as each one tries a variety of permutations of sexual gymnastics to win her for himself. Sex, sex and more sex, mostly of the ménage a trois persuasion.
 
Technically, I found the actual writing to be a bit simplistic and bland. I'll warn you away from this book if you find disturbing the idea of two brothers in bed sharing one woman; but conversely, there are plenty of women out there who find the self-same idea to be the makings for hot fantasy. The door is left open for N.J. Walters to dream up more women to find themselves whooshed to Javara for their own threesome dilemma.
